A Your Echoes In Space Presentation: My Dream Diary

Words and Pictures by © Mazzy Khatun 2017

An idea for a story can behave like the moon. It appears bright, swollen with revelation. You twirl in excitement. You shout it out. You breathe it.

Then, just like that, it wanes. It vanishes.

Without your consent.

Without waiting to hear what you have to say.

Without warning.

You eventually console yourself, reasoning that the idea has departed for good. No longer do you feel its unmistakable tug. It has left your world and joined the dark darkness of oblivion. No one will ever know about it. It was never meant to be.

The end.

Not quite.

Your Echoes In Space was born last autumn. I chose a photograph out of a constellation of possibilities to use as a writing prompt. It was a dated picture of an intimidating teacher looking down at a boy. He had his arms behind his back, his head slightly lowered. She was waiting for him to pick up the chalk and write on the blackboard. There was no clock in the scene yet I could hear the ticking of the hand, the loud ominous dragging of time.

I took that photograph home with me. By evening, Edward had pushed through into existence. A brilliant-minded and exceptionally articulate pupil, he was also something else. A self-isolating racist bully. I saw him take particular joy in picking on the new ‘coloured’ kid, Alok.

In those embryonic moments I also saw astronomy. A discipline about distant things. The study of stars – the study of fantastic and mysterious entities of faraway places, that spun and pulsated light years above our heads, below our feet.  I wanted astronomy to be the adhesive, the study of the distant bridging the gap between two boys from two different worlds.

But.

In the autumn term of my MA writing course and through into the festive season, for reasons unknown to me, my passion for Your Echoes In Space began to wane. Somehow, something had pulled the plug. I was devoid of conviction.

My two boys had fled.

Determined to not let myself be swallowed up by the disappearance of my protagonists, I straightened up my back and returned to the drawing table. I scribbled new ideas, thoughts and musings. I must carry on, I told myself. I must.

In semester two my tutor introduced me to something that would change everything. It felt absolutely right. It was as if a missing piece had been salvaged and returned to my mantle; awareness once flaked and lost in the dense foliage of self-doubt now restored.

Welcome to the dream diary.

I have vivid dreams. They are always liberating and surreal and insightful. Till now it had never clicked that I could tap into this vast resource for fuelling my creative energy. I began to keep a diary. And I dreamt a lot, every night.

And, the dream was not just a dream. It was a bridge.

Between two worlds.

Between my boys and I.

They had not waned, withered, wasted.

They were growing, gestating, gleaming.

Like the furled sails of a new moon.

Alok and Edward.

In so many of my dreams.

They had not gone away. They had gone deeper. Deeper into me, into the parts of my brain for which no map could chart. Parts still wet from my primal days. Parts moist with soul.

I remembered. I remembered how to believe in my story again.

The dream diary. That is how they came back to my world, our world.

One world.

"They had not waned, withered, wasted. They were growing, gestating, gleaming. Like the furled sails of a new moon."

“They had not waned, withered, wasted. They were growing, gestating, gleaming. Like the furled sails of a new moon.”

"They had not gone away. They had gone deeper. Deeper into me, into the parts of my brain for which no map could chart. Parts moist with soul. "

“They had not gone away. They had gone deeper. Deeper into me, into the parts of my brain for which no map could chart. Parts still wet from my primal days. Parts moist with soul. “

In 158 Words: Sonnet 116 – True Love Is Not Time’s Fool

A TIMELY UPDATE & A BREAKING NEWS ON CHANNEL CHAR 23-03-16

The clip runs for only a short time before coming to a standstill, but do not let that fool You into thinking that You have seen all there is to be seen from the artistic handiwork of my stellar students! They have plenty more to do and to share, so watch this space with eagerness, I say! I have always said it out to the world loud and clear and shall say it once more, and that is that it is a veritable and tremendous pleasure to have chosen in this life the path to enact the role of TEA-CHAR for such an extraordinary constellation of dedicated souls who will let nothing come in their way and whose gutsy attitude and untrammelled enthusiasm is proof once more that only honest hard work can ever be that agent of blossom from which beautiful gardens may spring, anew and refreshed, from under Your feet… ♥♥♥

Always Your Evening & Morning Star,
Mazzy xxx

Aired in the UK last night, I assure You, only 1 RUN of this clip required for You to send a secret smile my way:

*******************************************************************

Old photographs embroidered in threads of new words and whose count equals to my height measurement in centimetres…

Writing as the star, Venus, I have been the celestial source of intrigue and romance for poets and scientists since the time the necks of men have learnt to bend back so that the bowels of their curious minds may hope to be quenched by my morning and evening waltzes. I have sliced through their haunting shadows and lit bright their paths with a view for faithful nurturance, and contrary to their mortal desires, I shone and yet I am untouched, chaste and defiantly elusive.

But, I, Venus shall announce out of my own free will that I have seen a singular Starman who walks among the fertile sludge of the earth below, my true counterpart and companion, unchanged he is as I am since the proliferation of Time, and when we meet, the hands of all the world’s clocks shall quaver and raven-black soot shall become of them. I await for that day and its glorious residue… ♥♥♥

Gravitational Waves & Love That Bears Out Even To The Edge Of Doom: Einstein Meets Shakespeare!

“… Shakespeare penned his idealisation of True Love as something that would ‘bear out at the edge of doom’ and what could be more catastrophic in our physical universe than the merciless jaws of a giant black hole…”

Geniuses Are Always Outsiders, Like Stars…

As our treasured STARMAN of the music world is officially assigned his own stellar constellation comprising of seven stars, I sit and smile to myself and think how beautifully harmonious is the convergence between what I had once penned at Christmas and the real world narrative that has unfolded before us in recent times. An energetic LIGHTNING BOLT has come to behave as an almost visual interpretation of the SPARKY contents of Sonnet 116, in which the poet speaks of the constancy of the guiding star as a definitive property underlying the mysterious phenomena of Eternal Love.

Anyone who still thinks that life is random, barbarically chaotic and that we are at the mercy of the dice of chance should really ought to ask themselves as to why they persist to read me and will go even as far as to read my star tale below and feel comforted by it. No one is a skeptic after entering my domain, You shall always find that when You depart from here You do so with a light dusting of icing-sugar but please do not attempt to collect it for baking purposes, for it is not a culinary character we speak of. It is an outsider element, the stuff that fills the minds of eccentric geniuses and makes them walk diagonally away from the din of the world, that is what it is, I am certain of it: The stardust on Your nose… ♥♥♥

Jump(er) To Hyperspace: A Vortex Of Light!

Now, I do have a few specks of pragmatic dust mites in my brain to be able to graciously and humbly accept that in my lifetime it would be a megalithic miracle for the opportunity for space travel to come my way, however, the goblins of the realistic world have yet to forge a restraining order on my imaginative faculties, this nifty gift is highly advanced  of mine and has taken me as far as the other side of the Universe! An armchair, a pen and paper and soon enough I can transform myself into a pirate pilot manoeuvring impossible high-speed slants and dashes and dodges in deepest space whilst giving the itchy laser-blasting TIE fighters of the ever snooty Imperial authorities a proper run for their money! Ha ha!

Since England is in the grip of a ferocious storm at the moment and I have some time to spare today, while my baby sister is listening to old-school vinyl music and painting away, I am poring over old star charts, fiddling with my planisphere and learning more about the fireflies of constellations of the northern hemisphere, especially paying acute attention to the myths and legends that have delightfully added a mystical strata to otherwise dry scientific fact. The skies over England are variable in cloud cover at night so stargazing is a bit of a tricky proposition at the moment, however, I am noting down potential dates for clearer expeditions of the heavens using my trusty telescope and am particularly drawn to identifying, this time, the spectacular static dance sprays of a few favourite nebulas and perhaps even the scoot through the Bootes (The Herdsman) constellation that is being voyaged through by Comet Catalina as we speak! Ahem, ahem, I do apologise for the lavish bubbles of geeky enthusiasm in my words, it is known to subvert non-initiates of the Astronomical world to lose their own co-ordinates! I do apologise sincerely! Giggle, giggle!

Before I make a dash back to the study room I should like to leave You with a cheeky photograph that I took this morning in my garden – the site of the majority of my interstellar spy activities – wherein You shall see yet another telescope in my collection, kindly gifted to me by my adorable star fighter brother, Sambo, and leaning on it is the second Christmas present I received from my film buff brother, Ab, who is a rather clever chap, for he always knows how to appease my tomboy inclinations! Lipstick and shoes and bags do it for some women. My boys know that is not how I tick!

What makes me tick? What is my cup of tea, so to speak?

A Haynes operational manual detailing the anatomy of the most famous Modified YT-1300 Corellian Freighter, The Millennium Falcon, whose metallic flower-head main sensor antenna fizzles my eyes with enough carbonated joy that if I could I would stand up on the world’s stage and announce to everyone that those cruddy Smartphones may come installed with the capacity to send signals but they have not a clue in the world how to do it in a style that defies time and space with whizpopping panache!

Seconds away from signing out from the dismal 2D universe of the virtual plane, but turning around just before I casually push the salon doors open in the cramped Mos Eisely Cantina, I ask thee, Dear You, are You ready to jump(er) to hyperspace with me…?  ♥♥♥

Christmas Month Puzzle Box FINALE: On The Matter Of Acquiring The RIGHT Number To Reach Me!

Ah, so You have made it to the last and most gloriously sumptuous festive puzzle box of the series! Hurrah, hurrah!

Before I might proceed with the means by which You may succeed in unveiling the veil of my heart allow me to shake Your hand in the humblest of appreciation and thanks for taking the time to pore over my words, and not only that, I can sense that a particular ‘Someone’ waits upon my storytelling Voice like an eager child with elbows pressed down on the windowsill, eyes seeking for the footfalls of my mucky shoes to appear…

Perhaps it is due to the fact that I have always, with utmost diligence, stuck by my Faith in times bright and in times dark that my Allah and his penmanship in action, what we call ‘Destiny’, have bestowed on me blessings spooned of honey and milk that wrap around my authorial aura,  smilingly His Guardianship has become my consort on paper so that what I write of forever shall seek to find ways to blossom into spectacular colours on the stage of reality. So beautiful are these blossoms that one passing by would think that butterflies and roses had at last become as One.

So what highest honour and Love could I possibly gift You today, on Christmas Day, as a mark of my ancient, starry and blazing connection to You. Well, while we did enjoy a very late night here at the hobbit house I was in bed by the time Mr Tim Peake, British Astronaut, luckily aboard the ISS, committed his little act of comical boo-boo, accidental in nature but genuinely funny, a rufescent error that was DESTINED to happen because the red bauble of my hobbity heart prayed for it!

All splattered over the British papers today, Mr Peake, at the peak of his astronomical career and who made a rare starlit swoosh past my house last evening, missed his family so much – and one would do so at this particularly special time of the year – that he attempted to call home.

And he did!

EXCEPT, he dialled the WRONG NUMBER and instead it reached another lady whom he refers to as PLANET EARTH! Mmmm, I wonder who she is?! Giggle, giggle and wink wink! ♥

So, my Dear Reader, are You READY? Lets see if You can solve this Puzzle Box!

You MUST click on this link and read the entire article about Mr Peake’s blunder:

LINK: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-35178210

Done? Good!

Now, cast Your dodgy memory back to one of my earlier posts – CHRISTMAS MONTH PUZZLE BOX 11 – and read it with extreme thoroughness, INCLUDING the comment stream under it:

LINK: https://mazzykhatunphotostories.wordpress.com/2015/12/14/christmas-month-puzzle-box-11-on-the-matter-of-using-light-to-live-in-the-moment/

How on EARTH did you know this would happen to me?” I write in flabbergasted breathlessness in response to my honourable friend’s astronomical praises for my dazzling storytelling craftsmanship! My honourable friend, somewhat perplexed, has not the slightest clue to what is going on and I step away from the brooding atmosphere of Mystery that I have planted in his imagination with a smug twinkle in my toes! With dignified resignation, my honourable friends replies with a capitalised but mildly miffed, “ALRIGHT”.

WRONG! Well, in Mr Peake’s case it was! Giggle, giggle!

Ahem, ahem, the time has come for You to flip open the notepad and draft in the pencil to thy bidding.

Note down the Puzzle Box Number of the article that You have just read. Now place the NUMBER OF COMMENTS at the end of the number that You have written – do not count any additional comments that may be added today.

If You have a morsel of intelligence left in the old brain after all this enigmatic navigating then You should have a generated a 3 DIGIT NUMBER!

The first two numbers of this sequence equates to the MONTH and the end number is the DAY. You must seek out the post that was composed on this day and month. The only clue that I shall be munificent enough to reveal is that the title of the article in question will put everything RIGHT! Oh stop moaning like a spoilt brat, off You go! Giggle, giggle!

Ah, You have found it! Now, listen very berry merry carefully…

Read the entire post with the most scrutinizing eyes You could possibly muster, for I have sneaked inside it, somewhere amid the forest of my wordings, a WEB LINK, and if You have braved it this far into my kingdom of Puzzles then You are indeed deserve-worthy to open the DOOR and beyond it a MESSAGE from my heart to Yours, only for You, on this Christmas Day… ♥♥♥

With every word and world hidden in my heart, Merry Christmas!

The Force Is Strong In My Family: A Comic Convention! EPISODE III

Dear Reader & Mr You in a galaxy far far away

I feel as though I am the blessed custodian of sacred and secret knowledge who is about to, with the fullness of heart and vitality of spirit, unleash the final part of what has been kept safe so that You, too, may benefit from its illuminating effects as it has done so for me. I am, of course, referring to my final Star Wars comic cover that will complete the jolly triptych and seal it with the epic atmospheric strata characteristic of historic cinematic trilogies! Ahem, ahem, what were You thinking about?! Giggle, giggle! :)) :)) :))

I do hope this unprecedented creative project that had started out on an impulse brought oodles of happiness to You as it did for me in the making of it. I am quite a busy old lady but, with the determined enterprise of a true Jedi, if I put my mind to something – especially if it is designed with the motivation to bring joy to others like Yourself – then I shall always find time to transform my Vision into reality. Do not be disheartened by the fact that my physical eyes cannot see You take delight in what I create, I have always relied on my true Eyes to capture the essences You leave behind each and every time You cast Your attentions onto my humble presentations. That in itself is enough to make me want to forever strive to better myself as an Artist authentic to the Voice of her heart…♥

The narrative voice box in this comic cover ends with the teasing cliff-hanger to the tune of “To Be Continued…” I assure You that sometime in the future You will see additional hilariously formatted installments that express my penchant for comic book dabblings! Watch this space attentively!

Oh, before I do disappear to bed I should like to announce – and I rub both my hands rigorously with electrical excitement as I prepare myself to A-MAZ-E You – that Mr J.J. Abrams, director of FORCE AWAKENS, has revealed today on the news that MAZ KANATA, the lady pirate gifted with the special eyes, was always present in the official poster, right under Your noses, but that no one had spotted her, presumably because of her diminutive size overshadowed by the other well-familiar characters. Let me ask You a question, and please answer to Your best of knowledge, has there been a Jedi granny from Winchester with special Eyes who has ever so earnestly been prattling on about Admiral Telescopes for the last week or so?! Now You know why! Ahem, ahem, stop looking at me so deeply – blushing is in breach of my Jedi code…  ♥

Though I am short it never stopped me from seeing my favourite Star,

The Force Is Strong In My Family: A Comic Convention! EPISODE II

Dearest Reader & Mr You ♥

The pleasure centres of my nerdy brain were so immensely gratified by the creation of my flashy comic book tribute to Star Wars that after returning from my teaching duties tonight I simply could not resist! Yes, my beloved Reader, I adopted a full-steam ahead mentality and gave in to my delectable temptation to rustle up yet another cover, starring my rocket fuel in human form – my nephew Zack – as the star attraction! I know You indulged in a hearty giggle with the first edition so surely a second offering will be indubitably proficient in putting the hugest of stars in Your eyes!

I include some A-MAZ-ING breaking news, just released from over the pond. A few hours ago Entertainment Weekly announced that it will be publishing collector’s edition covers lovingly dedicated to the new film and have included to mention that first glimpses of exclusive photography of some of the primary characters will be contained within. And, if You WATCH the video at the top of their page You will find it a difficult challenge to avert Your eyes away from the background WALL, for it bears the name of my most treasured and brightest star, Sirius. I love to A-MAZ-E You… ♥

Oh, and by the way, when my Eyes had wondered off to that beautiful wall in Birmingham Library, it was unlike the chap in the video since both my feet had shoes on at the time, yet I still request that You do not call him STUPID, it is the way of us geeks to behave in this wibbly-wobbly manner… :)) :)) :))

The Force Is Strong In My Family: A Comic Convention!

Dear Readers & in a galaxy far far away my Mr… ♥

Ask anyone in my extended family and they will tell You, with an exhausted shake of the head I hasten to add, that there are two particular individuals who were born with a jumbo-sized and unassailable keen passion for the ways of the Force, the path of the Jedi. Mention STAR WARS and the two in question will follow it up with a spinning motion of the feet proceeded by a rushing round the room in a burst of the most ear-cracking joy that even the remnant radiation left from the mighty Big Bang is made subject to seriously consider shutting down shop! Giggle, giggle!

Who could they be? Oh how daft of You to employ such stupidity on such a sacred a topic!

Zack and I, of course! Pfffshhht!

Little Zack of 8 glorious years is my adorable nephew who lives in Birmingham with my brother, a film buff in his own right. All three of us spent an absolutely cracking afternoon in the biggest comic shop I had ever laid eyes on to the extent that I was madly out of breath by the brute indecisiveness of what to buy, so many vintage comics that I wanted to slurp them all up! Bangles and lipstick and pretty shoes can never match the sheer awesomeness of a good comic, and my bookshelves have ample varieties of them, each a trophy that glitters to my eye with the pounding message that it wants to be read once more!

I wanted to do something a little different to celebrate that super cool memory of scooting around a comic shop with my Jedi Apprentice, Zack and, as is customary of eccentrics, in a flash of strawberry-flavoured lightning the idea came to me – that I could conjure up my own comic cover! That is precisely what I did! I have sent a copy to Zack and his family and I share it with You, too, for I know in my Soul that when You look upon this amusing aspect of my twinkle-toed creative Vision You’ll want to meet me more than ever, after all, how many Asian ladies do You know who, in their spare hour, want to do nothing more than to create their very own science-fiction memorabilia?! Giggle, giggle… :)) :)) :))

Oh, and, it might be wise to view the contents of my comic cover with that fine brass Admiral telescope I sent You previously, otherwise, may I suggest that You seek a suitable zooming-in facility to draw closer to Your eyes my Words… ♥

Always Your Hidden, Loving Polymath

True Knowledge Is Like Visiting The Brightest Star: An Ode To Birmingham Library

Under squid-ink blackness of ceilings infinite and vast
Neon hoops of Light and bulbs twinkled in suits, a stellar cast
Floors umpteen and escalators galore filled that I saw
A Jedi Temple’s heart lay at its beating bookish core
Which one to pick, to read, my breath belligerently betrayed me
Listen to the Force I did, herein is my Destiny
My eyes at 37 closed and my feet began to take
Downstairs to the Children’s Zone where my eyes once more awake
There! On a wall above yellow brick-steps I saw the Home of a most beloved star
Ah, You wish to follow me, I think Your request not bizarre
Sirius welcomes all those sentenced to an eternal curiosity as mine
And to cross the line over please, all of You, get Yourselves in a line…
